Chapter Twenty-Four

The Essence of Radiance

And, then the moment ended; Lynci and Jerryl were standing again before pool in the Hall of Reparations among their classmates who, unanimously, wore dazed expressions. Lynci turned to Jerryl, and he smiled at her, sliding his arm about her waist. It seemed to Lynci that, during their sojourn in timelessness, he had revealed to her the truth between Lyric and his alter ego in Malkuth, thereby creating a reality through which those two might eventually be together.

To Lynci, Jerryl said softly, “Our doubles in Assiyah are somewhat anxious that their potential union will produce a Cosmic Event—which, in fact, it will, since they are AurL’s Terran Designés to effect the elevation of that Universe into Mazohir pursuant to the Convergence of his Dual Creations!”

“I truly am doubtful that they will be able to enact such powerful Magick in the mortal world!” Lynci replied.

“Well, we did infuse them recently with AurLplasm, you will recall.”

Lynci nodded.

At that juncture, Jove’s voice shattered the relative silence within the Hall when he said, “Congratulations anew! Some of you presently have gained experience in dexterously manipulating the Pendulum through Time, particularly you, Jerryl! Those techniques ultimately may become the sources of great pleasure for you in your future explorations of Time! In coming days, President Jaefké will be issuing appointments for the entire Atlantean populace to attend the Hall, here receiving life-giving AurLplasm injections, the appointments beginning, naturally, with members of the Royal Families. Once the Atlanteans have assimilated the Alchemical Gold, they, too, will be enabled to transfuse their own Terran doubles with the life-affirming substance.”

“What of those whose Terran selves are previously deceased?” Thom asked curiously.

Jove shook his head, answering, “AurL, Yerusha, and Merlin will attend to resolving that conundrum, I should imagine. And now, we must depart. The hour currently verges upon Scorpio; what exactly are the minute-units, Tym?”

Tym studied his sparkling Chronologue momentarily before announcing, “The time currently is Libra one hundred fifteen.”

Jerryl glanced at Lynci, murmuring, “You do plan to settle that wager which you lost to me, do you not, Lynci?”

“I imagine that you must wait patiently to discover the truth!” Lynci informed him with a smile.

Hera spoke then, telling the group, “We are asked to refresh your memories as to your requirements to attend Underground Atlantis later this evening—in your revised partnerships!”

“Let us be off!” Jove urged.

Jerryl said to Lynci as they complied, “Perhaps we shall perform more adeptly on tonight’s occasion.”

Lynci turned to assess his seriousness in that declaration, but he was exchanging smiles with his brother Rychi, avoiding Lynci’s eyes, she thought. Thus, Lynci glanced toward Tym and Dorthi, observing that they were engaged in seemingly intimate conversation, Tym laughing, evidently in response to whatever Dorthi had said. The customary stab of jealousy jolted Lynci; Jerryl, always perceptive, apparently, sensed Lynci’s reaction and said:

“I can cause you to forget your former attachment to Tym, Lynci, and I shall. I possess talents beyond Tym’s capabilities, and you will desire to experience them, endlessly,
